A new women's group in town is focusing on building relationships while supporting local restaurants.

The Dinner Meeting Group created by Rhonda Chisolm began as a way to create new friendships in the community while supporting independently owned restaurants in Okotoks.

She says she made her idea public a month ago and the response has been overwhelming.

"In my head I was looking for about 10 to 12 ladies that we could meet once a month for dinner and we currently have over 50," explains Chisolm. "I can't meet all of them for dinner so we did break the groups up, right now we have six groups. We're just getting started so each group will make their own plan as far as what night they're going to meet and what restaurant."

Chisolm says her family's owned businesses and restaurants over the years so she knows first hand how much that support means.

"You really see behind the scenes how much passion and hard work goes into a running a business and as a family we really appreciated the community that supported us and making those businesses successful. I'd heard there's so many great restaurants in Okotoks I haven't yet tried so I thought it was a great way to get out there, support our local businesses, and try new restaurants."
