UPDATE:

According to Parks Canada the majority of the Waterton Townsite appears to be intact despite the Kenow fire's progression yesterday and overnight.

Fire crews were able to protect the majority of infrastructure and facilities within the community and at the Prince of Wales Hotel.

Firefighters worked throughout the night to extinguish spot fires, monitor sprinkler protection, and protect facilities.

The Kenow wildfire has made its way into Waterton Lakes National Park.

Parks Canada says they're also assisting with the evacuation of properties adjacent to the park.

The fire is now firmly established in the Cameron Valley along the Akamina Parkway.

There is also fire in the Tamarack Basin which is expected to grow and move into the Blakiston Valley and towards the Red Rock Parkway.

Fire fighters have moved equipment into the town site including high volume pump and sprinkler systems around the perimeter of town.

Highways 5 and 6 are now closed at the boundaries of Waterton Lakes National Park.
