The Okotoks Art Gallery is joining in the holiday festivities.

Some of the hand crafted art at the Spirit of Christmas Exhibit and Sale.

The Spirit of Christmas, an exhibit and art sale, kicked off on the night of Light Up bringing in thousands to observe and purchase local handcrafted art.

Katrina Lougheed, gallery specialist says there is a wide variety of items that can be found there made by the 80 members of the gallery.

"People can find all sorts of goodies. We've got glass work, paintings, blown glass beads, jewelry, silversmithing, knitting goods, hand made goods, photography, pretty much a unique assortment of items."

Lougheed adds they want to spread a couple of messages to the community about the Spirit of Christmas.

"We want to not only get the awareness out in the community of all these fantastic local artists with very varied talents and skills but to also get the community to support their local artists and you can also pick up a unique handcrafted gift for the holidays here for anything less than 200 dollars."

For all the last minute shoppers out there the gallery could be a perfect shopping spot as it is open until December 23, Tuesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
