The Okotoks Dawgs wrapped up the WMBL regular season in tremendous fashion, with a 12-8 win over the Fort McMurray Giants and over $25,000 raised for the Canadian Cancer Society.

On Sunday, July 30, the Dawgs hosted their annual Wear Pink to the Park day and auctioned off 32 pink jerseys in support of the breast cancer research.

William Gardner, Director of Promotions, says the Dawgs are blown away by the outpouring of support from fans.

"It takes our ten year total to well over $300,000 and it's just an incredible testament to the great support we enjoy in the community, and the best fans in all of baseball," he says. "We just can't thank the fans enough for joining us, and supporting the Canadian Cancer Society. To raise those kinds of funds, and think of all we've done together over the years is truly a testament to those fans, this community, and all they mean to us."

It was a special day for Brendan Rose as well, as a jersey with his number five on the back grossed $4,000.

"Brendan has been with our program as a youth player, and started in our academy. We've seen him grow from a young man into a fine baseball player, he's graduating this year, it's his last season with the Dawgs, I was blown away by the response to his jersey, it was an exciting moment."

Gardner shares how gratifying it was to hear from those whose lives have been touched by breast cancer.

"We've really come to understand what a very special day this has become, it's one of the top sold out games, and we are just in awe of the support the community continues to show."

The Dawgs now head into the playoffs facing the Edmonton Prospects in game one of a best of five series on Tuesday, August 1.

First pitch goes at 7:05 at Seaman Stadium.
