The Okotoks Art Gallery has opened its new exhibit, Relationships and Reconfigurations.

The exhibit features pictures by world-renowned photographer Edward Burtynsky, and to compliment Burtynsky's photographs two of his documentaries will be shown at the Rotary Performing Arts Centre.

Education Program Specialist Jaime Brett Sine says that by bringing the documentaries to town, it will add complexity to the exhibit, in particular with the imagery from around the globe.

"It is spectacular imagery with aerial photographs, and when you look at it on a big screen, it is extremely impressive. It is an immersive experience where you are looking at the spectacular force of nature on a big screen."

The first documentary to be brought here on Wednesday is Watermark, which takes a look at how we are influenced and drawn to water.

Sine says she believes Edward Burtynsky said it best by saying "How does water shape us and how do we shape water?"

Sine  believes those words influenced the movie.

"The film makers explore how water affects us or how we are drawn to it and how it is used and what are the consequences of that use."

Sine believes that the people in Okotoks will be interested in this documentary because of the water and potable pipeline situation in Okotoks.

"People are smart and conscious of their use of water here when you look at our town logo the water is right there; it is a big hinging point in our community and because of that I think people in the community will be interested in it."

Watermark was made by Jennifer Baichwal, Nick de Pencier, and Edward Burtynsky.

It won the Rogers Best Canadian Film Award in 2014.

The film will play at 7 o'clock at the RPAC.
