Changing technologies and transportation of war is the topic this week at the Okotoks Museum and Archives.

Last night, November 10, the first part of the War Series event took place focusing on World War I naval warfare and the evolution since.

Education Program Specialist with Okotoks Culture and Heritage says the program educates kids aged 8 to 16 through interactive activities.

"The program itself involves sort of an interactive discussion, we go through some historical images and video and we sort of chat about all of these things. It's quite a bit of fun and then they will be completing an art project. Often we are doing some sort of drawing but this time we are incorporating some paint."

Saturday, November 11, the museum welcomes everyone to join the event as they will host a model showcase as part two of the War Series event.

"So people are welcome to come by and we will be showing various war model tanks, aircraft's and warships. We are also of course inviting people who have already taken this up as a hobby and might have some of those models at home to bring theirs in and show them to other hobby enthusiasts and chat with other collectors."

Sine says it's an appropriate time to educate children and the public with today being Remembrance Day.

"It's a poignant time and an appropriate time to be speaking about the history of war and looking at some of those details in the war that a lot of kids this age won't necessary know a lot about."

Part two of the series goes Saturday, November 12 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Okotoks Museum and is free to the public.
