Wheel Estate is asking the community to join them in keeping the homeless warm this winter.

The business will have a trailer set up at the Okotoks Recreation Centre on Saturday to collect items for the homeless in Calgary.

They're looking to have the trailer filled by the end of the day with toques, mittens, jackets, scarves, pillows, sleeping bags, and blankets.

Cherie Ball, cofounder of Wheel Estate, says they already have plans for how their haul is going to be delivered.

"We're going to sort it all and put into gift bag type packages and take the Wheel Estate trailer to the Calgary Drop-In Centre on December 17 and we're going to personally hand out all the items to the homeless along with hot chocolate and candy canes."

Ball says they're going taking the extra step to make the donations more personal.

"Along with the donations we're hoping to take a picture of every family that donates and we're going to make up these holiday cards with everyone's photo on them to hand out to the person that receives the donation so they can connect with the people who showed they care and thought of them over the holiday season."

The trailer will be set up at the Okotoks Rec. Centre and offering free hot chocolate from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
