Last week the United Way Okotoks partnered with local McDonald's restaurants.

On Wednesday, one dollar from certain menu items went towards the United Way Okotoks and the local organizations it supports.

Cindy Gibson, chair of the United Way Okotoks Committee, says it's great to help these groups that do so much for others.

"These agencies give back to the community and they are non-profit agencies so they are looking as well to raise funds and with their own fundraising and the support of the United Way they're able to offer some terrific programs in town that otherwise some people may not have the opportunity to access."

In total the United Way Okotoks supports 12 local agencies including SNAPS, Literacy for Life, and the Rowan House.

Gibson says McDonald's is always fantastic to partner with.

"They support us and with the owners here being local as well they're very keen to give back to the community so when they approached us last year and said 'would you like to join with us?' it just seemed like the perfect partnership to pair with McDonald's."

In total, just over $1,800 dollars was raised for the United Way Okotoks.
