United Communities gave back to Okotoks today after donating $5,000 to the Sheep River Health Trust.

United Communities; the Drake Landing developers philosophies include: being customer focused, to act with integrity, respect, dedication, understanding and to lead by example. Going hand and hand with giving back to the community.

Marketing Director of United Communities Steve LePan says it just made sense to give back.

"Well as developers we are building communities from the ground up, but it takes much more than the sticks, bricks and construction, it really takes happy, healthy families to make strong communities. So it just makes sense for us to give back and the Sheep River Health Trust has a really good vision and it aligns with ours."

Lepan says they chose the Sheep River Health Trust because they support a range of Okotokians.

"We chose them because the work they do in the community is for all generations. From kids to seniors and everyone in between and those are the people who live in our communities so it just makes sense."

Sheep River Health Trust Representative Tanya Thorn says their donations will contribute to a number of local initiatives.

"Well it's supporting the radiothon, that's where the donation will go so we have some projects at the Okotoks Health and Wellness Centre, we are making that building more kids centric so there will be some remodelling happening in the lobby. We are supporting It Takes a Village they're purchasing baby boxes, and Kidsport trying to put some kids in sport for the fall quarter."

Other organizations that will contribute from the donation are: Foothills Snaps, Healthy Moms, Healthy Babies and Lemonade Day.
