The Downtown Steering Committee has made it more convenient for people to get together in Olde Towne Okotoks.

The furniture in Olde Towne Plaza that was bolted to ground is now accompanied by new furniture that is unbolted and able to be re-organized, so people can sit together in larger groups.

Carrie Fischer, Chair of the Downtown Steering Committee, says the idea came around last year following a tourism expert's time in town.

"It's something Roger Brooks specifically pointed to as creating that home-y atmosphere that we're all seeking down here so I'm excited and thrilled that we've got something unbolted."

Fischer says the unbolted furniture helps to create a more enjoyable experience when people spend time downtown.

"It's creating a community and a warm and welcoming atmosphere where people don't feel like they're living in a prison or that they're living in a community where things have to be bolted down or they get taken... it also allows people to get together in larger groups."

Fischer says the committee is taking a bit of a pause on design work downtown and is looking into hearing feedback from the community on the future of the area.
