The Sheep River Health Trust is giving back to a pair of Foothills groups thanks to their annual golf tournament.

This year the event, held at the Turner Valley Golf Club, had an Olympics theme where competitors could get decked out in their finest gear.

Tanya Thorn, representative for the Sheep River Health Trust, says the organization saw a great deal of support at the tournament.

"That day we netted $39,000 so that will get redistributed back out in our community going to the Oilfields Hospital, we're not sure exactly which project yet but it's earmarked for there, and we partnered with the Foothills Lions Club and we'll putting some of the money to a project for them."

Thorn says each year they give awards out.

"We award the Sheep River Health Trust Trophy which we've been giving out the last 13 years, and we also award our coveted plaid jacket."

The trophy for top team went to Scotiabank Okotoks and the plaid jacket was awarded to Dr. Brian Siray from Foothills Medical.
