The Town of Turner Valley is set to implement a new bylaw Friday.

Earlier in the year the Town voted on changing the speed limit unless otherwise posted down from 50 to 40 KM/H.

Mayor Kelly Tuck says even though most of the signs will be up there will be a light probation period for motorists to adjust to their surroundings.

"Making that kind of transition you want to make sure that you have the stakeholders and the public engaged on it and I have to tell you we've been receiving some really positive comments back on it."

Tuck says it's only fair to those that are affected by the change the most.

"Just because of the changes in the community you want to be fair, so understanding that all the signage will be completed by April 30th there needs to be a probation period."

She says that all side streets will be down to 40 KM/H with a few exceptions.

"The two areas you won't find 40 KM/H zones in are Main Street & Sunset Boulevard along with 16th Avenue. Sunset and Main Street are provincial highways, 16th Ave and Valley Trail are two main corridors coming in and out of Turner Valley and they are not provincial but they will stay at 50 KM/H."
