Through the 2017 Municipal Election season The Eagle 100.9 and Okotoks Online will be bringing you profiles of candidates to help you make an informed decision.

There are nine candidates running for two School Board Trustee positions, and Wayne Meikle is one of them.

Tell us a little bit about yourself:

"I've been a resident of Okotoks for about 28 years, I've been on Town Council here. I've been President of the DARE Society for a long long time, I've been involved in lots of committees in town. I wrote the Active Transportation Plan, I wrote the the River Valley Plan, and been very involved in town with lots of things. I retired as a Park Ranger and Park Planner with the Alberta Government."

What is your platform?:

"I think there needs to be better communication between parents and administration, and also that we need to share facilities. Some of the things I would like to see is more active transportation to school, I would love to see kids walk to school or ride their bikes, and I would love to see a community garden in every school yard."

Why do you believe you'd make a good Trustee?:

"I know this town, I know all sorts of government, I've been quite involved both as a Park Ranger and Planner in the planning of school yards, especially naturalizing them. I also have very good communication skills."

Every Okotoks candidate running for the 2017 municipal election will get to opportunity to explain who they are, their platform and why they are running. The candidate profiles are posted at random. If you are a candidate and have not been contacted, please email news@okotoksonline.com
