Through the 2017 Municipal Election season The Eagle 100.9 and Okotoks Online will be bringing you profiles of candidates to help you make an informed decision.

There are nine candidates running for two School Board Trustee positions, and Cindy Krebs is one of them

Tell us a little bit about yourself:

"Over the past 10 years, my Husband Greg and I have enjoyed raising our four children in this community."

"Prior to having children, I worked in the business world.  This work allowed me to develop excellent skills in networking, problem solving and working as a team.  Prior to running as trustee, I worked at the Foothills Composite High School as a Learning Commons Facilitator.  In this role, I had the opportunity to build many amazing relationships with staff, students and their parents."

"My Experience has taught me a lot about the daily processes of our community, our school and the challenges we're currently facing. I've also sat on the Okotoks Athletic Board for five years and I am proud of all the incredible things we've accomplished."

What is the main part of your platform?:

"The biggest change that I would like to see, is how we as a division work together with the community.  I see so much monetary waste from an inability to work cohesively together.  If we step right back to capitol costs and take a look at the schools just inside the city, you'll see incredible infrastructure created by partnership."

"There's so much new growth, there's a school, a public library, a YMCA, a sports arena all in one building.  When all of those stakeholders get together and build, those projects actually save taxpayers so much money. There's so many innovative ideas out there for us as a youthful and growing community and I'm ready and prepared to go out there and make those relationships and changes."

Why do you believe you'd make a good Trustee?:

"I know lots about what my kids have experienced as students, but getting inside the school walls and getting involved there really opened my eyes to what's going on and how important it is to remain current and have the energy required to get things done."

"I have kids in the school, so as a parent and as a trustee, I want to see things done, and done quickly. It is my expectation that in a four year time span, you should be able to get a lot done."
