One piece at the Okotoks Art Gallery stands out among others this holiday season.

The Tree of Warmth is decorated with donations of new toques, scarves, socks, and mittens which will be given to those in need.

Katrina Lougheed, gallery specialist at the Okotoks Art Gallery, says the charities they support change each year.

"We always do the Magic of Christmas which is a Foothills based charity, this year we're also doing the Southern Alberta Brain Injury Society and if we have anything left over we'll call the Salvation Army."

The gallery sees a large amount of items brought in for children but Lougheed is hoping to see more items for babies and adults.

Lougheed says some people even knit items specifically for donation and it's incredible to see.

"It's heart warming because you know there's people thinking in advance about how they can help people in the community. It's such a great turnout, so many people contribute to this every year and we're very thankful."

Those still looking to bring in donations for the tree of warmth can drop off items at the Okotoks Art Gallery.
