With the Town of Okotoks working on a feasibility study for a potential traffic circle on Veterans Way & South Railway Street, Okotokians are weighing in on if the traffic circle would be a good idea.

Linda VanWeeteringen is all for the circle and says there would need to be some sort of fair warning and education on how to properly navigate one.

"A single lane traffic circle would be ok, there would have to be an educational pamphlet going out or however you would educate people on it," she says. "Anything more than that could get confusing, I've been on the four lane traffic circle and felt like I was stuck there for a week."

She says at times when she's at the intersection she isn't sure what on coming traffic from southbound Veterans Way is going to do.

"You do sit there at the stop sign and you wait. As the traffic comes down and over the tracks you're never quite sure which way they're going to go, you're never  quite sure who's going where so a traffic circle would probably work rather well."

VanWeeteringen says it couldn't hurt to make the road along south Railway Street safer.

"You got to the library, the park or you go to downtown but you want to avoid Elizabeth Street and just hit McRae. I think it would improve the traffic flow, I don't know what the cost would be verses a light somewhere else."

The Town is still waiting on engineering to come up with a possible plan for a circle that should be completed in the next few weeks.
