Warmer weather means summer events are returning to Okotoks, and June 18th, 19th, and 20th are looking pretty stacked.

Saturday the 19th will see the return of the Reverse Parade, a spin on an annual event that'll be similar to last year's.

Floats will be set up at local businesses, with attendees moving through town to take the sights in.

The town expects to release more information leading up to the event, as the province's Open for Summer plan will likely mean different restrictions will be in place by then.

Also returning that weekend are drive-in movies at the rec centre.

Community Events Specialist, Zach Adams, says they'll be able to offer what many consider to be a cornerstone of the movie-watching experience: snacks.

"Last year we weren't allowed to have a concession on-site for food handling; this year we're allowed to have Okotoks Cinemas provide a text-in service where people can text in their food and have their food dropped off."

The success of last year's event also prompted them to add a third day of films.

Adams says the Saturday screenings are geared toward families.

"Since we normally have our parade and children's festival on the same day, Saturday is going to be children's festival at the drive-in, and so all the movies on that day are kid-friendly and themed for families and children."

There will also be free gifts available for kids in attendance that day, though with a limited quantity.

Adams recommends you act quickly if you're interested, as the free tickets were gone pretty quickly last year.

The full schedule and tickets for the drive-in are available on the town's website.

There's also a page for those wanting to participate in the Reverse Parade.
