A water truck used for dust control had some electrical issues early Wednesday, June 7, leading to some traffic tie up's on Highway 2A just North of High River.

Just before 7 a.m. the truck had what the driver called an "electical short" causing a small fire in the engine compartment.

The High River Fire Department were quickly on the scene, putting the fire out in short order.

The driver was unhurt, and there was never any danger to the public as the tanker wasn't carrying anything flammable.

RCMP and fire crews blocked off the northbound lane of Highway 2A, just North of 498th Avenue, while traffic alternated back and forth in the southbound lane.

The truck has since been removed and traffic is back to normal.
