The Okotoks Art Gallery was full of parents and young kids Friday that were taking part in Toddle Down To The Art Gallery, a program that is put on by the Culture and Heritage Department of the Town of Okotoks.

Education Specialist Jamie-Brett Sine said the program is offered to give families an opportunity to do something with their young children, inside a culture and heritage setting.

"These opportunities are few and far between, which is a part of why we have been doing this program repeatedly, and there is a new exhibition to check out each time," Sine said.

The program has different stations set up around the gallery where the kids can  have fun and learn,"The idea is that they leave the gallery seeing it as a place of fun, where they got to explore and play."

Sine remarked that she doesn't expect a one, two or three year old child to leave the gallery understanding and contemplating complex art, the idea is just for these young children, and their families, to go and have fun.

"We switch the days back and forth from Friday's to Saturday's, so that parents who are able to come on week days can come on Friday's, and those who aren't able to make weekdays work, can come on a weekend."

Parent feedback is also an important part of this program.

Sine says that she makes sure to give parents a comment sheet to find out how she can make program better and more enjoyable for all who visit.
