Big Brothers Big Sisters of Calgary and Area wrapped up their All-Star Campaign focusing on the mentoring of local children and youth.

Karen Orser President of BBBS says their goal was to raise $100,000 that was going to be matched by a pair of sponsors was a huge success.

"We surpassed our goal, we've heard such great feedback from the community and it was an amazing experience, we learned a lot, we want to thank everyone for all the support."

She says they raised $133,000 and adds that will be matched by two of their sponsors (Qualico and Gary Nissen) for a grand total of $233,000.

Funds will go to running their mentoring programs adding it's all about the children and youth they serve and the growing mentoring movement and the impact of mentoring.

"It's always about the children and youth that we serve and it's about growing the mentoring movement and talking about the impact of mentoring. I think we did a good job of that. We're just so proud and pleased with the event and grateful for everyone's support."

The All-Star Campaign replaced their previous All-Star Weekend fundraiser, which is one of many they do throughout the year.

"There's always way to get involved with us. From fundraising and donations to mentoring and being our volunteers that do the work with us."
