The High River Hospital Foundation had a great time raising money at their first ever Stroller-a-Thon.

Young families and children from across the Foothills helped to raised $8,200.

Foundation Fund Development and Communications Officer Cathy Couey says the money they raised will go to the renovations planned for the hospital maternity ward.

"The event was a great event," said Couey. "It is the first time we have ever done an event like that it was really fun for us and exciting to do something for families in particular."

She adds there was a family playground a family market with great vendors and people of all ages took part.

The funds are going to the Delivering a Better Experience campaign that is raising money for a major renovation of the maternity ward. The total budget is 1.5 million dollars and they need to raise $500,000 with the rest coming from the Foundations reserve.

Next up they are planning something that is focused on the guys.

"Everyone from the outer edge of the municipality down to Stavely, out to Bragg Creek and out to Vulcan we will ask you to look for a pledge form."

After that they will be doing a checkout campaign at the Sobey's stores in High River and Okotoks.
