Livingstone-Macleod MLA Pat Stier is tired of seeing crashes in the vicinity of the intersection of Highway 2 and Highway 540.

Reacting to Thursday's crash there that claimed a life, Stier says he wants to see action taken immediately to make it safer for traffic going in any direction at that intersection.

"I'm going to be calling on the Provincial Government and the Minister of Transportation to work with the district transportation manager and see what kind of actions can be looked at to be put in place almost immediately to draw extra attention to that intersection and ensure people are aware of the serious, poor sight distances and everything else that are involved there so we can improve the safety of that intersection," he says.

Stier says lights aren't the answer and he doesn't think it's time for an overpass, as the amount of traffic doesn't support the cost.

He does suggest either speed restrictions around the intersection, warning signs and lights or longer approaches to the intersection on Highway 2.
