Canada Post chose the Town of Vulcan to unveil their latest commemorative stamp.

As part of the celebrations surrounding "Star Trek's" 50th Anniversary, Canada Post unveiled the third in a line of "Star Trek" themed stamps, this time it was the "Mr. Spock Stamp."

Sally McMullen with the Post Office says choosing Vulcan for the launch was an easy choice.

"I'm going to give you the cliche answer, in that it was a clear and rational and dare I say it 'logical' choice. The 'Star Trek Capital of Canada' of course Mr. Spock's Canadian hometown, of course where else are we going to unveil the 'Spock Stamp?'"

McMullen says they're slowly ramping up to a release date for a whole line of stamps.

"Star Trek fans really like to be engaged. They like to be interacted with. They like the conversation. So when we unveiled the 'Kirk' and 'Enterprise' Stamps on Wednesday (April 6), we did that through social media predominantly, and we started to see the conversation kick off at that point. And as we unveil, one at a time, we'll start to fill out our crew of characters on our stamp program. And let's just say that towards the end of the month, more will be revealed."

Canadian, William Shatner, who played "Captain James T. Kirk" had his stamp unveiled last Wednesday (April 8). Canada Post says they'll unveil more over the next few weeks.

McMullen says they also have a little trick up their sleeve that will have collectors scrambling to come to Vulcan once the stamps are released for sale.

"So we've created a custom cancel, just for the Vulcan post office. So if you're a fan and you're looking to get a real unique piece of mail, or anything with a cancel on it, you can send it to the post office here (Vulcan). But they can get this cancel on their mail and that won't be available anywhere else. You won't be able to go to another post office, you can't get it online. It's only available at the Vulcan post office, in the Star Trek Capital of Canada."

McMullen wouldn't give a specific date when the stamps will be available to the public, but it will be sometime in May.
