As large pools of water develop on Okotoks streets, the Town is doing what it can to get it back into the storm sewers and out of sight and out of mind.

Town Communications Specialist Melanie Heemeryck says they're hoping to take care of the excess water before temperatures start to drop back into the minuses.

"Town transportation crews continue to move around into trapped low areas today (Friday) to haul away snow and ice from the catch basins to allow for that proper drainage," she says.

Heemeryck adds that for those at home seeing a build up of water should make sure down spouts, swales and eavestroughs are clear so water runs away from your home and not allow any moisture inside the foundation.

"For snow stock piled against homes you want to avoid any seepage issues with your home, it's a good practice for all home owners to check all sides of your home. To remove any snow away from the foundation near your window wells and the north and east side of your homes will be the worst for winter sun exposure."

As for the roads there's plenty of ice in spots where the snow layers have melted and Town crews are work busy in those areas Friday.

"Sanders have been out this morning and they'll continue out until the temperatures warm-up to ensure that there's no icy areas on the roadways," Heemeryck says. "The Town graders will be out again working in areas doing road widening."
