It's been a pretty smooth return to classes in the Foothills School Division so far.

Assistant Superintendent Drew Chipman says everyone's come on board and worked together to make it happen.

"We've been impressed by the efforts of all of our staff, people have gone above and beyond to get ready for the school start up, teachers have done an outstanding job and administrators have worked late to make sure protocols are in place," he says. "We've tried to communicate with the parents and staff as much as we can to make sure people are going to be familiar and know what to expect when they came back to school, so from that perspective it's really heartening to know that people are working together to make this year a positive, great experience for kids."

Superintendent Chris Fuzessy says both teachers and students have expressed how happy they are to be back.

"I've been in a number of schools this week and the mood, I would describe it as positive, cautiously optimistic, I can tell you that teachers, support staff, school leaders are very very happy to have students back in the building and I have also seen some notes that kids have written that expressed the same things from a student's standpoint in terms of they miss being in school and they're happy to be back," he says.

He says the staggered return of different grades has helped get everyone settled back in.
