Thanks to some overnight rain and snow area highways are in a slick condition Monday morning.

Town crews in both Okotoks and High River have been out sanding major routes but side streets and sidewalks remain a concern due to the ice.

Area highways may also be in tough shape.

Thanks to low temperatures on the roads, the chemicals used to melt the ice aren't being as effective as they could be, so motorists are being reminded to slow down and leave plenty of room between their vehicle and the cars ahead and behind as braking distance will be reduced drastically with the ice.
