The Sheep River Valley Clean Up and tree planting will take place this weekend at Ethel Tucker Park.

Members of the Town are encouraging the public to come together to pick up garbage in the community.

Leah Chant, Community Services Assistant with the Town, says they're expecting a good turnout.

"This is a really popular event, we usually have anywhere from two to 200-300 volunteers coming out. We get families, organizations and clubs and that kind of thing."

Chant says gloves and garbage bags for the clean up will be available free of charge at the Okotoks Rec Centre this week.

The Town is also encouraging residents who will be attending the clean up to bring their shovels to prepare for tree planting.

The event begins at 9 a.m. Saturday and will be followed by a volunteer BBQ at noon at Ethel Tucker Park.
