The Sheep River Health Trust received a generous gift from long time supporter Okotoks Ford Lincoln.

As part of the annual Together We Make a Difference Radiothon, the local auto group presented the health trust with a cheque for $5,000 on Tuesday to go towards health and wellness initiatives in the Foothills.

Gerry Wood, president of Okotoks Ford Lincoln, says it's wonderful to see the health trust expand.

"It's great to see them continue to grow and continue to spread their wings. As Okotoks grows so do they and we're all very proud to be a part of that."

The funds from Okotoks Ford Lincoln and other donations from the radiothon this year will support AHS Integrated Home Care, Rowan House, Foothills SNAPS, It Takes a Village, KidSport, the Turner Valley PTA,Oilfields General Hospital, and Okotoks Urgent Care.

Wood says Okotoks Ford Lincoln has a long history with the health trust.

"We were involved in the golf tournament initially. I remember we were very excited to see them showing this kind of initiative and they've done a bunch of different initiatives that really draw attention to what Okotoks means and what the community is all about."

The radiothon in partnership with Eagle 100.9 is set to take place Apr.13 from 5:30 a.m.- 7:00 p.m at Okotoks Sobeys.
