Last night the Sheep River Health Trust held their first annual Donor Appreciation Event.

About 40 donors, board members and SRHT Representatives from gathered at the Crystal Shores Beach House to celebrate contributions made to the trust.

Andrea Mitchell, SRHT representative, says the trust also handed out their first donor appreciation award.

"We gave out the first annual Mrs. John A. Campbell award in honour of Elizabeth Campbell who recently passed away. Mrs. Campbell was a founding member of our trust, and we wanted to honour her with an annual award to our community."

Mitchell says SRHT thought long and hard about who would be the recipient of the award, and one came to mind who has made outstanding contributions not just to the trust, but the community as well.

"It's not just about a monetary donation or those kind of things, it's about giving back to our community. There was really one name that came to the top of the list for the award, Mr. Gerry Wood from Okotoks Ford."

She adds SHRT has a busy few weeks ahead of them as they plan for their 14th Annual Golf 4 Wellness tournament on July 9, the trust hopes the tournament will help finish off the fundraising efforts for a new Tub Room at the Oilfield's General Hospital.
