It's Small Business Week in the Town of Okotoks and one non-franchise supplement retailer is looking to make its mark by helping the community achieve their fitness goals.

Sector 6 Supplements just opened its doors at 206-44 Riverside Gate and is owned and operated by Andrew Krushelniski.

Krushelniski has been working towards his Sports Nutrition and Personal Training certificates while starting up Sector 6 and says he's been working in the fitness industry for over 10 years.

"I wanted to do this on my own just because I wanted a little bit more freedom I didn't want to go franchise," he says. "When you're non-franchise you have a lot more freedom to put what you want in your store, different kinds of products when you want."

Sector 6 only stocks Canadian made products to keep the national supplement economy going strong.

Krushelniski says he chose to set-up shop in Okotoks with an opportunity to serve a new customer base that doesn't have too many supplement providers in town.

"There was only one supplement store in town then, we just found it to be a good opportunity especially with the owners to get this lease and kind of start in smaller town and it's personalized because when people come in you learn their first name."

Krushelniski does have past roots in Okotoks as he played minor hockey for five years when he was younger.

He says when you come into his store he won't just allow you to buy a certain product as he wants to educate those buying his product how to utilize it properly and effectively whatever your fitness goal might be.

"Do you require supplementation for your goal, you want to choose the appropriate supplements to compliment your goal as well so once we have everything in tact then we can talk about supplements and figure out how it's going to benefit you and your fitness journey."

Sector 6 is open every day 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday to Friday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends.
