Okotoks residents will have a second chance to have their say early tonight, Oct. 11.

Advance voting will open again at the Municipal Centre, running from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

The first Advance Vote for the Okotoks election, and School Trustees was held on Saturday, Oct. 7.

Cathy Duplessis, Legislative and Policy Services Manager, says many residents came by to vote.

"We had a really good turnout, it was really steady we had about just under 200 voters and we were busy all day."

The event on Oct. 7 was the first time Okotoks has held an Advance Vote over the Thanksgiving long weekend, Duplessis shares it gave more residents an opportunity to cast their ballots.

"We had some really good feedback from the electors who did come out to vote, saying that they were able to vote this time and in previous elections they weren't. Either they were snowbirds and were traveling shortly after the long weekend, and we also caught some students who were home for the long weekend, so they got the opportunity to come out and vote where normally they wouldn't."

Advance Voting has seen another change for the 2017 Civic Election, Duplessis says Advance Voting is not just for those out of town on election day but now for convenience as well.

"We encourage you to come out and vote. in previous years you've had to make a declaration that you were voting in an Advance Vote because you were out of town on election day or for some other reasons, that's been done away with. So if it's more convenient or you to come out and vote today, or Saturday instead of Monday, Oct. 16 we encourage you to do that."

The next Advance Vote will take place Saturday Oct. 14 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Municipal Centre.
