The Foothills Search and Rescue team are one step closer to a new Mobile Command Centre after their fundraising dinner and auction last night.

The event, put on by the Okotoks Rotary Club was held at the CP Regional Fieldhouse and included a guest speaker, the original Man Tracker Terry Grant.

Chad Merchant, Committee Chairman for the event, says the night was a big success.

"It was amazing, we had so many good people come out and support this cause, we had a wonderful dinner, a bunch of great sponsors, it was a fun night all around."

One of the highlights of the night for Merchant was a surprise presentation from Crescent Point.

"It was tough for me to keep in, they donated $30,000 tonight it's so amazing."

Merchant estimates the event raised between $40,000 and $50,000, adding they'll be working over the next few days to get the final numbers tallied.

He shares how grateful Foothills Search and Rescue is for the generosity, as it is a non-profit, volunteer ran organization which depends on donations to operate.

"You guys are unbelievable, I thank you so much, I can't believe how gracious everybody was."
