Back to school can be a financially draining time for families but the Okotoks Family Resource Centre can help.

Their school supply program partners with Staples each year to provide a little boost to families with children in grades K- 6.

Cortney Vines, program coordinator with the Okotoks Family Resource Centre, says it's a nice little boost for families at a financially demanding time.

"You've got your school fees, your school supplies, clothes, and sporting events are starting again so we've just found that families really are nickel and diming at this time of year so this is just something to help, it doesn't cover fully but it's a little something to help kind of get through that big expense at the beginning of September."

Families must fall within a certain income bracket to qualify for the program. For example, a single parent with one child must be making under $30, 700 and a family of seven can't make more than $65, 200 to be eligible.

Vines says residents are also able to donate to the program.

"We've had a fantastic response, we've partnered since 2007 and Staples just continues to be a fantastic corporate sponsor and the donations are flooding in from the community and we are just so grateful."

Donations towards the school supply program can be made at the check out at Staples.

The registration deadline for the school supply program is Sept. 1.
