The Town of Okotoks took time yesterday, March 31 to thank the forty plus practicing doctors in the community.

March 30 is National Doctors Day, Mayor Bill Robertson says the town has been thanking physicians with a luncheon for six years.

"We choose to invite the doctors out to a luncheon at one of the local restaurants, on the Friday closest to national doctors day."

Mayor Robertson shares the doctors who can make it always enjoy the lunch."

"They insist on actually buying their own lunch, they are actually very appreciative for coming out for lunch. We also hand out carnations, the flower used to recognize doctors on the day."

He adds there were 16 doctors in attendance this year.

"Any doctor practicing within Okotoks are invited to come out to this, a number of them aren't able to attend because of course they have busy practices. I think its the gesture, doctors appreciate that the town is doing something to say thanks."
