The Santa Claus Parade in High River December 1st is shaping up to be one of the best ones ever.

Mr. Christmas, Ted Dawson, says with the weather forecast they are expecting  a huge crowd.

"It is definitely shaping up that way," said Dawson. "We have about 80 entires right now, just had two more come in this afternoon when I ran home for lunch."

And there could be a few more yet.

"With the weather forecast I am anticipating there is going to be a tremendous crowd. Which will be wonderful, because when you go to the to the work for folks to make a actually make a float, it is really nice when there is a good turnout of spectators to see what you did."

Things are getting started early at 5 p.m. with activities at George Lane Park and entertainment at the Museum.

He has lots of help with the Rotary Club doing the marshalling of the parade while Citizens on Patrol and local businesses are tending the fire pits.

One important thing to note Citizens on Patrol will be at the Stampede Stage at the Memorial Centre to look after any lost children until they are reunited with their families.

Handicapped parking is on first street south of the Museum and they should be parked between 5:30 and 6 p.m. at the latest.

"There is going to be a lot pedestrian traffic downtown with everything that is going on."

Dawson also advises to come down early find yourself a parking sport.

"There is parking on the town lot behind the United Church and Town Office. There is parking on the old school division site on the east side of the Memorial Centre and there is parking all along the old CPR right-of-way."
