The Foothills Salvage Centre is looking for three new members to fill out their board.

They are looking for people who are passionate about the environment, have strong leadership skills, are team players and have a strong sense of community.

Manager Candice Dupre says it is easy and doesn't require a huge time commitment.

"You just have to come in to the centre and fill in an application," said Dupre. "The board then reviews it. It is not a large time commitment. The board usually meets once a month."

One of the perks of of being a board member is being able to have a say on what happens with the money the Salvage Centre generates.

Earlier this year they donated $120,000 to local charities.

"It is certainly something that is very exciting to be a part of. At the end of the day you know you have made a great impact on the community."

The centre also opened a new expansion this year so they are looking at just settling into a routine for the time being before making any new plans.

"Hopefully with new board members we get those new minds involved and the new perspectives and new thoughts as to where the centre should go."

They are looking for people who can think outside the box.

Not only are they diverting thousands of tons of stuff from going into the landfill, they are also helping out people in need to have the things they need to keep them sustained in the community.

"It is a win-win situation for anyone who wants to become a board member. I encourage everybody to really consider it. It is a minimal time commitment and we have a lot of fun in our board meetings."

Anyone in the MD of Foothills is welcome to apply and even as far south as Nanton.
