The Third Annual Run for Life in support of suicide prevention will be going virtual this year.

Akash Asif, External Relations Director with the Centre for Suicide Prevention, says the event will look different this year due to COVID-19.

"Traditionally, we do have the physical event, but due to the current situation and current environment, we've decided to move towards a virtual event for this year," he said.

Asif says participants are passionate about the cause.

"This run is incredibly important to anyone who has lived, experienced or is passionate about suicide prevention. The purpose of this event is to walk or run to remember your loved ones, and raise awareness for suicide prevention," he said.

The idea is to begin in the morning and end in the evening, representing the journey from light to darkness for those who have lost their lives.

The event will run from September 25 through the 27th. A special video presentation will be released on Sunday, September 27th at 7 a.m.

Participants can choose a memorial walk, or a five or ten-kilometer run, either as a sole participant, or a team.
