Six men from around the Foothills are ready to head into local schools and the community to share their messages on how women should be treated.

The Rowan House Women's Emergency Shelter has launched the program called "Leading Change" which has the men speaking to young men and boys about the cycle of abuse, and how not to fall into it.

Rowan House Executive Director, Sherrie Botten, says it's a message that needs to get out there.

"In a nutshell, the program talks about gender violence and the impact on women and girls. And just the little exercises they do, just really helps for younger boys and girls understand the difference, and what gender violence really means, and it's impact."

Botten says the message seems to get through to young men and boys better, when coming from men.
