The Okotoks Rotary Club made another donation of meat to the Okotoks Food Bank last week.

The donation was from the Mac N' Cheese luncheon that was held last spring.

Sandy Kennedy, rotarian and event organizer, says over 1,000 lbs ground beef was bought in with the money raised at the luncheon.

"We deliver it in three different deliveries so that there is always meat here and they are not overloaded in the deep freeze."

The luncheon is held annually for the food bank and is something the Rotary Club is proud to put on for the community.

Kennedy's already thinking about next years event and says it's great for everyone to attend.

"It's a noon hour luncheon that we hold at Crystal Ridge Golf Course and it's fun because that's Administration Day throughout Canada, so employers bring their office to the event and I have even had people tell me it is the highlight of their spring."

The funds raised and beef that is donated is something Rotary Canada is incredibly supportive of and encourages.

"The Food Bank can't just go out and buy meat, they get donations but that is mostly dry goods and this way is Rotary's motto 'service above self', so this is something they like to do, especially in our community," Kennedy says.

The beef that is donated is bought locally at Hirsche Fraser Meats and Okotoks Sobeys.
