It was a little to chilly to be stuck in a tent on top of Sobey's in Okotoks last night.

For United Way's Rooftop Rescue participants, Mayor of Okotoks Bill Robertson and The Eagle 100.9's own Logan Coutts, it was an evening of team work and embracing their inner MacGyver, in order to stay warm and dry.

Logan Coutts says their Roof Top Abode nearly blew away in the wind last night.

"So we have these walls that are water resistant, but not really water proof and they started whipping around everywhere in the wind, and getting water all over our things and all over our faces. There we were, one of us on each side of the tent holding it down and making sure the tent didn't blow right off of the roof."

With the temperature dropping down to 3 degrees last night Coutts says once it started to rain, he and his tent-mate, Mayor Bill Robertson were pretty panicked.

"For about half an hour we were just trying to hang on and figure out what we were going to for the night, whether or not we should have one person hang onto the tent, while the other sleeps and do shifts."

A little bit of team work and quick thinking had them covered a little while later though.

"We decided we would drop all of the legs, bring it down and make it a lot smaller.  We also had these huge weights that we've duct taped to each of the legs, and it actually worked."

The Roof Top Rescue fundraiser is supporting the United Way in Okotoks, and only by raising $10,000 can the Mayor and Logan Coutts be rescued by Okotoks Fire Services.

The Pair are hoping for a rescue before inclement weather hits this evening.
