Elizabeth Street and Railway street will be closed from Veterans Way heading east to Lineham Avenue Saturday, July 22, as residents fill their boots with local food.

The fifth annual taste of Okotoks will see the roads closed from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Mark Doherty, Community Events Coordinator for the Town of Okotoks says with the amount of vendors this year the road closure was necessary,

"We certainly showcase our finest restaurants within the town so there's over 20 partaking this year, we've got some new ones, we've lost some, but overall its a great variety. It features local restaurants so it's there to really support those guys, there's music, and artisan market with over 30 vendors, so it just animates downtown."

Doherty says while you can't drive through downtown, it's definitely worth taking a walk through Saturday.

"Bring an appetite, one of the few complaints we've ever had about this event is there was too much food, and the portions were so big that people couldn't get around to all the restaurants to sample everything."

Taste of Okotoks runs from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
