The Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer is on it's final day as the 2,700 cyclists make the trek from Percy Pegler back to Canada Olympic Park.

Motorists and cyclists are asked to both share the road responsibly to ensure everyone is safe.

The participants started at Percy Pegler School today, and will ride through Millarville, Priddis, Bragg Creek area and then into Calgary on their return trip.

Team Enbridge participants Mike Watson and Kevin Leung completed the 1st leg of the race yesterday.

They say the conditions were perfect.

"It was awesome, beautiful weather! It got a little windy at the end but all in all we couldn't have asked for a better day."

It was windy yesterday, which made things a little difficult as a strong head wind developed in the late morning and lasted throughout the day.

Leung and Watson said that made the end of their ride a little challenging.

"The wind at the end was challenging, it got pretty hilly at the end.  For the first 85 KM it was generally flat but then it got really hilly as we went through the last lunch stop there."

Riders were in great spirits at the Percy Pegler camp, cheering fellow participants through the finish line.

Watson says if you've ever thought about participating in the Ride to Conquer Cancer, all you need is practice.

"I would say, get a couple of big rides under your belt before the big weekend, drink lots of water and get lots of sleep." His teammate Leung says, "Take it easy, and just enjoy the day!" He and Watson add "Yea, it's not a race that's step one - to understand it's not a race, just a bike ride and you can ride as fast or slow as you want."

Alberta cyclists have raised $6.7 million to go towards cancer research through the completion of the 200 km ride.
