The eighth annual Embridge Ride to Conquer Cancer was a success.

Riders leaving the starting line on the second day of the Ride to Conquer Cancer.

The 200 KM ride started in Calgary at COP on Saturday morning and headed out to Okotoks, where they stayed the night and headed back to COP on Sunday.

Alberta Cancer Foundation CEO Myka Osinchuk says that this year's ride was a great one between the weather, the ride itself and the funds raised.

"More than 14 hundred people came out today who collectively raised more than six million dollars to help Albertans with cancer."

In the past eight years of the ride over 60 million dollars has been raised for the Alberta Cancer Foundation.

Osinchuck says explains that the funds raised go towards supporting the 17 cancer centers in Alberta.

The Alberta Cancer Centre Foundation will make life better for every Albertan who is facing cancer in Alberta by supporting not only the cancer centers but also support research, clinical trials and fund patient navigators.

"Patient navigators help people in rural Alberta navigate the health system while hey have cancer, so they don't have to worry so much about the complexity of the system," Osinchuck says.

For those who still would like to donate to the ride, Osinchuck says there are multiple ways you can do so.

"You can donate online at conquercancer.ca as a general donation, or if you know a rider, you can donate directly through them."

Next year's ride is scheduled for August 12 and 13th.
