High River Police are looking for two men from an assault with a weapon that occurred Saturday afternoon, April 9, around 1:50pm.

Sgt Brent Hawker with the RCMP says the employee came to work in the 500 block on Centre St and found a couple men committing a break and enter.

"He came upon two males who were committing a break and enter to the establishment. He entered the office, where he was assaulted by one male who ended up leaving the scene. A second male also confronted him. At one point, the second male stabbed the man in the back with an edged weapon, didn't injure him. And the offender was hit with a baseball bat and managed to flee the scene."

Hawker says the two suspects managed to flee the scene, but the police have a description of both men.

"So they were between 18 and 25 years of age. The first male was approximately 5 foot 4 inches tall, thin build, clean shaven, with black hair, and he was wearing a long-sleeved black shirt and was described as having a triangular face. The second male was estimated to be 5 foot 7 inches (or) 6 feet tall with facial hair, and was wearing a bluish-grey winter jacket."

He says the incident likely wouldn't have turned to assault if the employee had not entered the business.

"We haven't have one like this occur in town. It probably would have been just a break and enter if the employee hadn't entered the business. So we haven't had a whole lot of them like this. Certainly the issue where they engaged him when he walked in on them is troubling though."

Police say the second suspect may also have injuries on his right forearm. Anyone with information on the assault is asked to contact High River RCMP at 403-652-2357 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
