The province made a $75-million dollar education funding announcement official on Tuesday, June 20.

The money will be available for the next school year.

The Classroom Improvement Fund was part of the agreement reached between the Alberta Teachers’ Association and the Teachers Employer Bargaining Association in May.

Under the agreement, school boards, including the Foothills School Division and teachers will create a joint proposal for how the money will be used.

Alberta Education has received a number of proposals, including hiring new teachers and support staff, literacy supports and professional learning opportunities.

Plans have to be submitted by December 15th.

The funding will be be allocated according to this year's enrollment figures.
