An event is in the works to support Ecole Okotoks Junior High School's programming.

EOJHS and the Ocelots Fundraising Society are planning to host its first Winter Market and Showcase this month.

Naydene Lewis, event organizer, says the event is a fundraiser for a new technology program.

"We've had a request to start a robotics group, so we're very excited about that. We're hoping to raise enough money that they can get the initial equipment to get that going for January."

A large part of the fundraising efforts will come from vendor fees, Lewis says they're actively seeking interested businesses for the evening.

"They can contact me directly, at EOJ4parents@gmail.com, or they're welcome to call me directly at 403-938-6629."

The market will also include student led entertainment for guests, Lewis says they're encouraging students to come forward with ideas they've organized themselves.

"We've asked our students to lead in some choir opportunities, we've asked the students to get together and practice some Christmas songs, and we've asked the jazz band if they will perform for us as well. This is all student led, so the students will be practicing on their own time, and getting together some songs they want to perform. We're also looking for magicians, dancers, and any student that believes in themselves enough to entertain the public."

She shares no auditions will be held for the entertainment, so every interested performer will have an equal opportunity to show off their talents.

The Winter Market and Showcase goes Nov. 30, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Admission to the Winter Market is a donation to the Food Bank.
