A planned power outage from Fortis Alberta will see 156 customers without electricity for a portion of the day tomorrow.

From 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. residents along Veterans Way, all the way up to the Suntree area will be without power as line maintenance is performed.

Kevin Haslbeck, Fortis Communications Advisor, says crews will be finishing up work along Veterans Way.

"This is the last piece of the puzzle where the overhead line was being buried under Veterans Way, and it's to install a switching unit on the hill there, and of course the power needs to be switched off to perform that work," he says. "Besides that the only impact will be a flag crew there to divert pedestrians from one side of the street to the either."

Haslbeck says customers should not worry about food expiring during the outage as it will only last five hours.

"I think if you keep your freezer and fridge door closed as much as possible there should not be an impact. Normally anything beyond 24 hours we recommend discarding the food, so I don't think there will be an impact that way."

Residents with any questions about the outage can call Fortis at 1-866-717-3113.
