A low pressure system is moving into Southern Alberta in time for weekend.

Sara Hoffman, Meteorologist with Environment and Climate Change Canada, says Okotoks will be no exception to the snow.

"Because it's expected to form south of Calgary, that means they'll be lots of potential for colder air from the north to get injected into the system and have some mixed precipitation, and in fact, we're expecting mixed precipitation over the day Friday and then overnight as temperatures cool, accumulating snow to fall and form in the Okotoks area."

Hoffman says it's difficult to predict exactly how much snow Okotoks will see.

"The moisture that will feed into the low pressure system is a little bit uncertain. We do know it will accumulate, exactly how much is tough to say. There could be up to 10 centimetres at this time with current models."

When it comes to what the region can expect for weather in may, Hoffman says that temperatures and precipitation should be around average.
