Christ the Redeemer Catholic School Division has confirmed a COVID-19 diagnosis in an individual from École Good Shepherd School.

Parents were notified via email on Tuesday afternoon that a person affiliated with the school had tested positive, and that a case investigation is underway.

AHS will be notifying anyone who may have been in close contact with this individual.

Any students required to isolate will have access to at-home learning determined by their respective teachers.

During her September 17th provincial COVID-19 update, Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw reminded Albertans to show support for those with a positive case connected to a school.

"Please remember that these are individuals, and they are not bad people. They and others at their schools need support to navigate this time of transition that can sometimes be made worse by false assumptions about risk in these schools."

Parents are reminded to complete the Alberta Health Daily Checklist each morning in order to ensure the safety of staff and students.

CTR also reminded parents that school counsellor or Family School Liaison Workers are available for those needing support, and included a number of emergency and crisis support numbers, including the Alberta Mental Health Crisis Line at 1 (877) 303-2642, and Kids Help Phone at 1 (800) 668-6868.
