RCMP are investigating the alleged misappropriation of the Okotoks Raiders Lacrosse Association's funds.

At a recent AGM an accounting firm hired by the association presented financial statements, which showed some funds spent in 2017 were allegedly embezzled.

According to a source who wishes to remain anonymous, nearly $211,000 was misappropriated throughout 2017, leaving the association with just $4,500.

A statement on the Okotoks Raiders Lacrosse Association Website says the recent findings won't impact its capacity to operate.

"The recent Board meeting also confirmed that there should not be any adverse impact on the ORLA's ability to operate. We are very confident, and the Board is working hard to ensure, that ORLA will be in a position to continue to offer the same great lacrosse experience to all of our players and families."

The Okotoks Raiders Lacrosse Association's Board of Directors have also appointed a committee to investigate this issue.

The association was not available for comment on this story.
